Selma, Lord, Selma follows a young schoolgirl from Alabama as she tells the story of the civil rights movement. The movie progresses as the events that led to Bloody Sunday, unfold through her eyes. This film is based on the same-named memoir of Sheyann Webb and Rachel West Nelson, civil rights activists. The film is rated TV-PG and is appropriate for students ages 12 and older, because of the topic of the film. View the movie’s trailer.
As the hub of the Indianapolis Public Library system, Central Library showcases renowned architecture and services. The original 1917 building, designed by Paul Cret and constructed of Indiana limestone in the Greek Doric style, was considered one of the most outstanding secular buildings in the U.S. Its six-story glass and steel-framed addition, designed by Evans Woollen, opened in 2007.
