Join us for an author talk and discussion led by poet, author, organizer, filmmaker, and activist, Too Black. He will be discussing his book "Laundering Black Rage: The Washing of Black Death, People, Property, and Profits."

Too Black will be discussing his book Laundering Black Rage: The Washing of Black Death, People, Property, and Profits, which examines how the Black rage that emerges in response to oppression—police killings, lead in the water, perpetual poverty, etc. is lauded to act against the interest of Black people. He will discuss themes concerning liberation, Black culture, and systemic racism. As a poet, Too Black has headlined the historic Nuyorican Poets Café, Princeton University, and Johannesburg Theater in South Africa. His words have appeared in publications such as Hammer and Hope, Black Agenda Report, Left Voice, Indianapolis Recorder, and Hood Communist. He is also the co-director of the award-winning documentary The Pendleton 2: They Stood Up

About the branch

As the hub of the Indianapolis Public Library system, Central Library showcases renowned architecture and services. The original 1917 building, designed by Paul Cret and constructed of Indiana limestone in the Greek Doric style, was considered one of the most outstanding secular buildings in the U.S. Its six-story glass and steel-framed addition, designed by Evans Woollen, opened in 2007.
