Join us at Spades Park Library for FREE Reading & Rhythm Classes. Specifically for kids 5-8, join members of Dance Kaleidoscope as they put stories to music. Enjoy a dance-themed storytime, followed by a FREE creative movement class inspired by the story.
Classes are held at the library on the 1st Saturday of each month and are currently scheduled from 10:45 - 11:45 AM on September 7, October 5, and November 2. Reading & Rhythm is presented in partnership with Dance Kaleidoscope School. Located in the Circle City Industrial Complex, the school offers classes in jazz, ballet, hip-hop, tap, modern, etc., with most classes being taught by members of Dance Kaleidoscope's professional dance company.
The Spades Park Branch was built with funds from a $120,000 grant by the Andrew Carnegie Foundation and opened in 1912, six months after the opening of the city’s other remaining Carnegie Library, the East Washington Branch. The 7,500-square-foot branch underwent a $610,000 renovation in 1987 and celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2012.
