Enjoy a fun, encouraging introduction to Chess geared toward those new to the game. Long time scholastic youth chess coach Colin Hargreaves will introduce chess to anyone who would like to learn how to play.
Colin's teaching style has proven effective with young students in scholastic chess clubs while also appealing to adults who are new to the game of chess and would like to learn how to play in a fun, relaxed environment.
New to Chess? Learn the fundamentals with a fun, supportive, and encouraging series of workshops. Open to all ages, with an approach that has led to many scholastic tournament victories. Presented by Books and Rooks Chess Club in collaboration with Cloud City Youth Chess.

As the hub of the Indianapolis Public Library system, Central Library showcases renowned architecture and services. The original 1917 building, designed by Paul Cret and constructed of Indiana limestone in the Greek Doric style, was considered one of the most outstanding secular buildings in the U.S. Its six-story glass and steel-framed addition, designed by Evans Woollen, opened in 2007.
