Seed Library Support at Eagle
Pack Seeds For Our 2025 Seed Library
Saturday, February 01
10:00am - 1:00pm
Work with fellow volunteers to pack seeds for our 2025 Seed Library! Join in on some literal bean counting, use your finger to measure out teensy oregano bits, and use scoops of different sizes to measure out flower seeds.
To sign up for this event, visit the listing on our Better Impact volunteer site.
The process to sign up is easy! Complete a short application, choose your date, and then show up at the library! This event will take place at Eagle (3905 Moller Road, Indianapolis, IN 46254). Get directions Eagle.
A seed packing group looks a lot like an assembly line. Everyone will have a dedicated job and work for 2-3 hours on a selected seed project. Tasks include:
- Labeling coin-sized envelopes with identifying information about our seeds
- Using tools (scoops, cups, or even a fingertip) to fill packets with seed
- Sealing envelopes with small stickers to ensure the seeds are secure and ready for patrons
- Bundling seed packets with provided rubber bands
- Keeping an accurate count of the seed packets completed to support our system-wide inventory
What is Seed Library?
The Indianapolis Public Library Seed Library offers FREE seeds to patrons so they can grow plants that sustain them. We also offer workshops to help you learn the skills you need to grow a seed into a mature plant. Visit indypl.org/calendar to see our upcoming garden programs & events.

Eagle Branch
In 1960, after residents petitioned for a permanent library, a storefront branch opened at 30th Street and Lafayette Road, the first branch in the system to be located in a shopping center. A stand-alone facility at 3325 Lowry Road opened in 1970 with 12,000 square feet. On June 1, 2019 the Lowry Road facility was replaced by a new 20,000-square-foot building at 3905 Moller Road.
