An exhibit illustrating life after incarceration coordinated by the Marion County Reentry Coalition and GANGGANG. The exhibit will be on display at Central Library from January 9th through January 27th, 2025.
Returning to your community after incarceration is a process often overlooked by most. Through an exploration of identity, grief, loss, overcoming, and a new normal, these entrepreneurs, mothers, fathers, creatives, and leaders would like to invite you into their ever-unfolding stories. A perception is "a way of regarding, understanding, or interpreting something; a mental impression." In what ways do these people defy perceptions simply by having the strength to try?
It's our pleasure to introduce Montez, Christina, Charity, Daniel and LaQurea. Listen to their stories, relate to their stories, and challenge your perceptions.
As the hub of the Indianapolis Public Library system, Central Library showcases renowned architecture and services. The original 1917 building, designed by Paul Cret and constructed of Indiana limestone in the Greek Doric style, was considered one of the most outstanding secular buildings in the U.S. Its six-story glass and steel-framed addition, designed by Evans Woollen, opened in 2007.
