Children 3-6 are invited to a virtual Library visit! Join Indianapolis’s own Professor Watermelon for a fun-filled story time all about friends.
Reading Ready Time is a virtual library experience specifically designed to help children 3-6 years old get ready to read and connect with the Library. Programs will be available for a limited time following the premiere on our YouTube channel.
The concept of friendship can take some work for early learners. This program aligns with Indiana Foundations Standard SW4.1 (HW K-2.4.4) - Model ways to treat people with kindness and respect.
Additional resources:
- Books are a great way to navigate feelings. This list of books about love and friendship can help start some meaningful conversations.
- Provide children with the opportunity to make their own friend using paper dolls. Cutting these will be challenging for young learners, but they should be able to create and color clothing and design a face.
- Have you ever discovered painted rocks in your neighborhood? This is a fun way to spread kindness and build fine motor skills simultaneously.

This is not a real library branch - this is the "location" for our events that occur online. Online events that take place on Zoom should all involve registration and a link will be emailed to participants. Other online events may occur on YouTube or Facebook, and will not require registration.
