Children 3-6 are invited to a virtual Library visit! Our friend Sukie is visiting and sharing the story of The Cornbread Man. While she’s telling the story, local artist, Gary Gee, illustrates. Fun, engaging storytelling experience featuring two local Black artists.
Reading Ready Time is a virtual library experience specifically designed to help children 3-6 years old get ready to read and connect with the Library. Programs will be available for a limited time following the premiere on our YouTube channel.
Additional resources to enhance learning:
- Have your children compare different versions of the story with versions of the story from around the world. What is the same? What is different?
- Design your own cornbread man using this template. Write a recipe to accompany your design.
- Let children measure, count, and mix to integrate math and science into this experience! There are lots of recipes for cornbread online. This recipe is nice and simple or use a mix from the store.

This is not a real library branch - this is the "location" for our events that occur online. Online events that take place on Zoom should all involve registration and a link will be emailed to participants. Other online events may occur on YouTube or Facebook, and will not require registration.
