The Nora Branch of The Indianapolis Public Library will celebrate its recent reopening following a period of extended renovations. The celebration will feature speeches, performances, and activities.
Highlights include a jazz performance by saxophonist Guy Holbert, an appearance by the Circle City Ghostbusters, as well as face painting and balloon animals. In addition, it is Free Comic Book Day so feel free to grab one while supplies last. Some refreshments will be provided. A tree will also be planted, in the memory of longtime Nora Branch Manager Delia Blanchard, to commemorate the occasion.
A new library for the rapidly-expanding area of suburban Washington Township was made possible by the donation of a 2.56 acre lot from Mr. and Mrs. Harrison Eiteljorg in 1968. The Nora Branch opened in 1971 on North Guilford Avenue and was expanded to 18,500-square-feet in 1990.
