Help us commemorate the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States by adding your contribution to a collaborative art project. Each project invites reflection on civic life and the shared American experience.
Join us for a hands-on community activity with the artist team of Vanessa Monfreda and Gina Lee Robbins. Participants will contribute to pages of a collaborative collage book in honor of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States. All materials will be provided, but participants are welcome to contribute material (photos, magazines, personal records, etc.) to explore themes like community, freedom and their American experience. The finished art book will be exhibited and included in the library’s permanent collection. (Note that donated material will not be returned.)

The Spades Park Branch was built with funds from a $120,000 grant by the Andrew Carnegie Foundation and opened in 1912, six months after the opening of the city’s other remaining Carnegie Library, the East Washington Branch. The 7,500-square-foot branch underwent a $610,000 renovation in 1987 and celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2012.
