Free Rated and Unrated Tournaments
Free to play G/25+5 chess tournaments. RATED and UNRATED tournaments. Rated tournament (requires USCF membership) with scholastic and open sections. Casual Play also available.
The Library's Day of Chess at Central Library, presented by Books & Rooks Chess Club with partners Cloud City Youth and Summit Chess Club.
First 50 players to sign in on day of tournament receive free Books & Rooks t-shirt.
Rated and Unrated Tournaments. G/25+5 sec increment time control. Free and open to all. Rated Tournament requires USCF membership. Casual Play available.
Unrated Tournament with prizes for finalists (number of finalists depending on number of registrants). G/25+5 time control. A great way to compete in your first tournament. No USCF membership required.

Coach Colin’s Corner
Coach Colin Hargreaves of Cloud City Youth will demonstrate strategic and tactical insights along with arranging games of blitz bughouse, the popular team chess game where teammates pass each other pieces as they capture them from opponents. No registration required for Coach Colin’s Corner! First come, first served.

About the branch
As the hub of the Indianapolis Public Library system, Central Library showcases renowned architecture and services. The original 1917 building, designed by Paul Cret and constructed of Indiana limestone in the Greek Doric style, was considered one of the most outstanding secular buildings in the U.S. Its six-story glass and steel-framed addition, designed by Evans Woollen, opened in 2007.
