The entire community is invited for a day of celebrating authors and books. There will be an artists' market, writer's workshop, children's activities, vendors, and registration for the Summer Reading Program and Library cards. Juneteenth will also be celebrated with a Civil War reenactment.
Keynote speaker will be comedian Patricia "Ms. Pat" Williams. Special guest speaker will be Dr. Anna-Lisa Cox, author of "The Bone and Sinew of the Land: America's Forgotten Black Pioneers and the Struggle for Equality." This program is sponsored by the Library's African American History Committee in support of the Center for Black Literature & Culture at Central Library.

As the hub of the Indianapolis Public Library system, Central Library showcases renowned architecture and services. The original 1917 building, designed by Paul Cret and constructed of Indiana limestone in the Greek Doric style, was considered one of the most outstanding secular buildings in the U.S. Its six-story glass and steel-framed addition, designed by Evans Woollen, opened in 2007.
