Teens and adults are invited to hear Elizabeth Acevedo, New York Times bestselling author of "The Poet X" and "With Fire on High." She is a poet, author and performing artist and winner of the Printz Award for Excellence in Young Adult Fiction. Book sales by Kids Ink and signings will follow.
Acevedo also received the 2019 CILIP Carnegie Medal, the Boston Globe-Hornbook Award, and the 2019 Pure Belpré Author Award for celebrating, affirming and portraying Latinx culture and experience.
As the hub of the Indianapolis Public Library system, Central Library showcases renowned architecture and services. The original 1917 building, designed by Paul Cret and constructed of Indiana limestone in the Greek Doric style, was considered one of the most outstanding secular buildings in the U.S. Its six-story glass and steel-framed addition, designed by Evans Woollen, opened in 2007.
