Families with children of all ages are invited to celebrate the importance of reading, singing and playing together for healthy development during this day-long event featuring Daniel Tiger of PBS and his friend, Katerina Kitty Cat. Families will receive a take-home bag of activities and a book.
There will be storytimes, magic show, face painting and special activities, such as the Teddy Bear Concert by members of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra at 10:30 a.m., Grammy-nominated author and musician José-Luis Orozco at 12 noon, and Magic with Michael Ray at 1:30 p.m. This free event is presented by WFYI, Reach Out and Read Indiana, Indiana Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Child Care Answers, PNC Grow Up Great, and the Library. Read Out and Read is made possible by CollegeChoice 529 and Friends of the Library through gifts to The Indianapolis Public Library Foundation.

As the hub of the Indianapolis Public Library system, Central Library showcases renowned architecture and services. The original 1917 building, designed by Paul Cret and constructed of Indiana limestone in the Greek Doric style, was considered one of the most outstanding secular buildings in the U.S. Its six-story glass and steel-framed addition, designed by Evans Woollen, opened in 2007.
