Dr. Jason Aukerman, Center for Ray Bradbury Studies, will explore four of Ray Bradbury's chilling retrofuturist tales through the lens of Steampunk.
Science Fiction tends to age poorly because it is based on the scientific and technological knowledge of its day. Ray Bradbury's Science Fiction stories, however, provide an interesting exception to this trend. Science and tech are often the occasion for Bradbury's stories, but they are never the focus. Because his descriptions of the mechanics of future tech in his stories are often vague, there is plenty of room to imagine or even re-imagine these tales through the lens of Steampunk.

The Southport Branch began in 1967 as a small storefront in the Madison Square Shopping Center. Following acquisition of a site for a larger facility, the new 15,700-square-foot library opened in 1974 on East Stop 11 Road. Even before the move occurred, a group of Perry Township residents demonstrated support by raising more than $5,000 to provide additional books for the new library.
