"The heart of 'One State, One Story: World of Wonders' is communities coming together to talk about Nezhukumatathil's remarkable collection of essays. Nezhukumatathil is an accomplished poet, with four previous collections to her name, and poetry infuses World of Wonders. Her love of language and skill with the written word allow her to represent the wonders of nature which defy easy depictions."
World of Wonders: In Praise of Fireflies, Whale Sharks, and Other Astonishments by Aimee Nezhukumatathil is available as a print book, an e-book, and as an audiobook CD in the Library's collection.
What was known as the Shelby Branch began in 1918 when the library was housed in old School No. 34. A new branch was constructed in 1965 at the current Shelby Street location. Following a major renovation, the branch reopened in 2011 as the Garfield Park Branch, reflecting the desire of residents to refer to the branch by their beloved and adjacent Garfield Park.
