Are your clicks, likes, and shares spreading misinformation? The Misinformation Edition of the Glass Room explores different types of misinformation, teaches you how to recognize it, and how to combat its spread. This self-learning installation on data and privacy was developed by Tactical Tech.
Located in the Central Library's Tech Learning Lab (1st Floor), this exhibit runs through January 31.
The Glass Room: Misinformation Edition is a self-learning installation that explores data, privacy, and the ways social media and the web may expose us to misinformation. The installation helps explore the following questions:
What happens when we increasingly rely on social media and the web for nearly all our information? What information do we see, and what do we miss? How do we know if a picture or a tweet is genuine or truthful? And what can we do if we can’t be sure?
The exhibit includes interactive web apps to complement the visual elements. In addition, the library's Tech Learning Team will host regular hands-on activities that will utilize the exhibit and the associated Data Detox Kit to help you take concrete steps to apply lessons from the exhibit.
