Join Marion County Public Health Department (MCPHD) staff as they show you how to make delicious makeover dishes out of food that might otherwise go into the trash.

Did you know that Americans waste about 25% of the food they purchase at the grocery?  When you consider most families spend between $250-$300 a week on groceries the amount of wasted food that goes into the landfills could pay for a family vacation.  Wilted greens?  Stale bread? Leftover takeout cluttering the fridge?  Join MCPHD staff as they show you how to make delicious makeover dishes out of food that might otherwise go into the trash.

MCPHD offered a similar class at the library a few years ago. Check out this book list about Preventing Food Waste.

Made possible by Friends of the Library through gifts to The Indianapolis Public Library Foundation.

About the branch

The Spades Park Branch was built with funds from a $120,000 grant by the Andrew Carnegie Foundation and opened in 1912, six months after the opening of the city’s other remaining Carnegie Library, the East Washington Branch. The 7,500-square-foot branch underwent a $610,000 renovation in 1987 and celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2012.
