Foster early math skills, critical thinking, and creativity in this interactive preschool program!

According to the American Society of Deaf Children (ASDC), “Research shows that reading and signing stories together helps promote essential literacy skills for ALL children: deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing.” Enjoy more signed stories by browsing our list of video read alouds in American Sign Language (ASL)! Just click on a book cover to enjoy one of the stories. To keep up-to-date on new releases and see a more complete listing, The ASDC maintains a running list of signed stories in their ASL Stories Directory. Use it to quickly find stories by a child’s age or by the book’s title.

In partnership with WFYI, we will use beloved characters and trusted content from PBS Kids to encourage play around important skills.

This program is made possible by Friends of the Library through gifts to The Indianapolis Public Library Foundation

About the branch

Decatur was the first township outside of Center Township to receive a branch library when the Marwood Branch opened in 1967 in a storefront location. Strong library usage throughout the township demonstrated the need for a new 11,300-square-foot branch that opened on Kentucky Avenue in 1990 as the Decatur Branch and continues to serve the community today.
