With Professor Watermelon
Wednesday, September 25
All day
Children 3-6 are invited to a virtual Library visit! Join us from home to sing along, listen to a story, see new places, and meet amazing people. Join Professor Watermelon and his friends, Zeke and Zeus, for a storytime all about fall. Visit https://bit.ly/readingreadytime for this program.
Reading Ready Time is a virtual library experience specifically designed to help children 3-6 years old get ready to read and connect with the Library. Programs will be available for a limited time following the premiere on our YouTube channel.
Join the ever-smiling Professor Watermelon and his friends, Zeke and Zeus, for an interactive and silly storytime all about fall. Professor Watermelon does an outstanding job with questioning during read-alouds. Asking children questions helps them develop critical thinking skills like making predictions and connecting the story to their own lives. Practicing this skill supports ELA Standard 1.3 – demonstrate ability to engage in conversation.
Additional resources to enhance learning:
- There are a zillion books about fall. Enjoy this curated list from the Library.
- The leaves are starting to change, and kids can’t help themselves; they have to collect their favorites, or crush them up, or throw them in the air and watch them float down. Teachingmama has some unique and simple leaf activities to try with your children.
- Tired of the cutesy apple activities? How about some apple science?
