Paws to Read at Spades Park
Saturday, April 19
10:30am - 11:30am
School-aged children who are beginning or reluctant readers are invited to read to a registered therapy dog, who loves to listen to stories. Sign up for a 15 minutes session in a non-judgmental setting. It's a great way to improve a child's reading skills and self-confidence!
Each 15-minute session is for one child reader. Due to limited space and high demand, we cannot accommodate groups at this program.
Spades Park Branch
The Spades Park Branch was built with funds from a $120,000 grant by the Andrew Carnegie Foundation and opened in 1912, six months after the opening of the city’s other remaining Carnegie Library, the East Washington Branch. The 7,500-square-foot branch underwent a $610,000 renovation in 1987 and celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2012.
