Adults with little or no computer experience are invited to learn the basics of using a computer, including how to use a mouse. These skills are important for navigating the computer and the Internet. Each week, you'll build on new skills to become more confident and comfortable with technology.

Join the Tech Learning Team for a three-part series

You’ll start by getting to know the basic parts of a computer—like the monitor, keyboard, and mouse—and learn what each part does.

A key focus will be learning how to use a computer mouse to point, click, double-click, and scroll. These skills are important for opening programs, using websites, and completing everyday tasks on a computer. You’ll also practice using the on-screen cursor to interact with menus, buttons, and links.

As the weeks go on, you’ll build on these basics and gain confidence using a computer. Each session will introduce simple, practical skills to help you get more comfortable with technology—whether for personal use, job searching, or staying connected online.

About the branch

Established as the Broadway Branch in 1924, the library served the neighborhood from a frame house on E. 42nd Street until 1958 when a 6,500-square-foot facility opened on Broadway Street. This aging and overcrowded building was replaced in August 2000 with the current 16,000-square-foot structure on College Avenue that was renamed the College Avenue Branch.
