Meet the Artists opening reception
The African American History Committee in support of The Center for Black Literature & Culture is celebrating the 2026 Meet the Artists XXXVIII - "Love in Action" event. This event will start with an artist exhibit that will run from Wednesday January 28, 2026 through Saturday March 28, 2026. Guests will be able to view the works of 30 African American adult visual artists, 2 youth artists along with some collaboration pieces with The World Changers School of the Arts, Inc. These pieces will be on display during library opening hours. There will also be 4 adult author's books highlighted as well as 2 youth authors. The opening reception for the art exhibit will held on Saturday February 14, 2026 at Central Library from 5:30pm - 10:00pm. The opening reception will include a red carpet experience with Mr. Fab Patrick, and the reception will include poetry, gospel, live band, music, DJ, youth activities, comedy and the finale Fashion Show titled: "The New Era of sustainable fashion", lead by Kaleena Baskin! Free and open to the public!

As the hub of the Indianapolis Public Library system, Central Library showcases renowned architecture and services. The original 1917 building, designed by Paul Cret and constructed of Indiana limestone in the Greek Doric style, was considered one of the most outstanding secular buildings in the U.S. Its six-story glass and steel-framed addition, designed by Evans Woollen, opened in 2007.
