Join Dr. Jarrod Dortch of Solful Gardens to get ready to "play" in your garden! Today's main topic how to harvest properly, use herbs, keep plants producing, save seeds, compost scraps, and plan for fall planting.

Spend some time with this year's Adult Summer Reading Program theme during this program that encourages you to play in your garden!

Join Dr. Jarrod Dortch of Solful Gardens to learn about ways you can play in the dirt. Grow your joy while also growing flowers, herbs, and veggies in a small amount of space! Buckets will be used as a simple example of how gardeners can keep growing in small spaces and reuse affordable materials throughout the season.

Get ready or follow up by learning from one of these book lists:

About the branch

What was known as the Shelby Branch began in 1918 when the library was housed in old School No. 34. A new branch was constructed in 1965 at the current Shelby Street location. Following a major renovation, the branch reopened in 2011 as the Garfield Park Branch, reflecting the desire of residents to refer to the branch by their beloved and adjacent Garfield Park.
