11:00am - 1:00pm

Help us commemorate the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States by adding your contribution to a collaborative art project. Each project invites reflection on civic life and the shared American experience.

In Unison is a large-scale, community-created block print that mirrors the graceful interconnectivity of starlings moving together in murmuration. In 2026, local artist Kassie Woodworth will bring a ten-yard roll of paper, hand-carved stamps, and printmaking ink to Indianapolis Public Library branches, inviting patrons to join in this shared act of creation.

About the branch

The longest continuously-operating branch in the IndyPL system began on the city’s east side in 1896 but moved to the village of Haughville after 1897. The branch’s many homes included the former town hall on Germania Avenue in which a fire in 1904 partially destroyed the building. After the fire, a storefront in the Michigan Plaza Shopping Center was constructed that operated until 2003, when the current 12,000-square-foot library opened on West Michigan Street.
