The Meet Your Neighbor series is an opportunity for community members and professionals to learn more about the immigrant communities that call Indianapolis home.
Indianapolis is home to one of the largest Burmese communities with 30,000 residents (Burmese American Community Institute, 2025). Myanmar is a diverse country with over 100 ethnicities and languages spoken. This program will highlight the Karenni community living in Indianapolis. Come join us to learn about culture, language, how the community made Indianapolis home, and ask questions.

The 20,000-square-foot Michigan Road Branch provides greater access to Library services and collections, engaging spaces for children, teens and adults, more computers, and a large community room. The branch opened in December 2018.
