Turning Points: Writing Through Life’s Changes
with Brenda Johnson
Saturday, December 12
11:00am - 12:30pm
Amherst Writers & Artists-method writing workshops are designed to encourage reflection, connection, and self-expression for adults of all writing experience levels.
Life rarely moves in a straight line. A conversation, a loss, a new beginning, a difficult season, or an unexpected opportunity can change us in ways we never imagined.
In this supportive 90-minute writing workshop using the Amherst Writers & Artists method, participants will explore personal stories about change, challenges, resilience, and the moments that shaped their lives. Through guided prompts and optional sharing, writers of all experience levels are invited to reflect on the turning points that influenced who they are today.
This workshop is designed as a meaningful beginning — this is your chance to capture memories, rediscover stories, and begin writing pieces that participants may continue to explore long after the session ends.
No writing experience is necessary. Participants are encouraged to write freely in a confidential, respectful, and encouraging environment where every voice is welcomed.

Wayne Branch
The Wayne Branch Library first opened in December of 1969 in a shopping center located at 7341 Rockville Road. Due to high demand, the storefront space was enlarged in 1973, but the need for more space was evident. A permanent 13,500 square foot location opened in 1984, and the branch remains in that same building today. The Wayne Branch underwent a $1.1 million renovation in 2020 to add more seating and activity space, study rooms, and a quiet reading area, but still features the split design of a separate children's and adult wing.
