Hear from five poets from the Great Lakes region as they share poetry from their book, "Undocumented: Great Lakes Poets Laureate on Social Justice." The evening will feature co-editor Ron Riekki and Poets Laureate Pauletta Hansel, Karen Kovacik, Aliki Barnstone and Shari Wagner.
Focusing on contemporary issues, the anthology showcases the poets laureate writing on subjects critical to understanding social justice as it relates to the Great Lakes region. The poems are organized around themes from the Southern Poverty Law Center’s “Ten Ways to Fight Hate: A Community Response Guide,” calling on readers to act on behalf of victims of social injustice. This program will be held in Central Library's Riley Room.

As the hub of the Indianapolis Public Library system, Central Library showcases renowned architecture and services. The original 1917 building, designed by Paul Cret and constructed of Indiana limestone in the Greek Doric style, was considered one of the most outstanding secular buildings in the U.S. Its six-story glass and steel-framed addition, designed by Evans Woollen, opened in 2007.
