LGBTed Talks are TED-style talk on subjects of interest to the LGBT community by partners serving them.

Gender Nexus is a non-profit organization that envisions an Indiana where gender-diverse people of all backgrounds are loved, accepted, welcomed, and valued for their unique selves—with autonomy over their identities and bodies, and freedom from disrespect, discrimination, oppression, and violence. Gender Nexus helps to remove the barriers gender-diverse people face in the academic, legal, and healthcare systems through guidance and direct support. Gender Nexus also offers seminar-style trainings for schools, counselors, businesses, and government agencies aimed at increasing understanding of gender-diversity and helping to foster a safe, inclusive space. They engage with schools and employers to adopt practices and support plans that affirm gender-diverse students and employees.

The LGBTQ+ Services Committee of the Indianapolis Public Library is partnering with 4 organizations serving the LGBT community in Indianapolis to share information about their areas of expertise and the services that they offer. Presentations will be held in the Indianapolis Special Collections Room on the 6th floor of Central Library. Presenting organizations include Trinity Haven, Gender Nexus, BU Wellness and Step Up.

About the branch

As the hub of the Indianapolis Public Library system, Central Library showcases renowned architecture and services. The original 1917 building, designed by Paul Cret and constructed of Indiana limestone in the Greek Doric style, was considered one of the most outstanding secular buildings in the U.S. Its six-story glass and steel-framed addition, designed by Evans Woollen, opened in 2007.
