  • What is an eclipse - why do they happen and why don't they happen more often?

  • Eclipses in history - Early eclipse observations in general and historical eclipses in Indiana. What can we learn from eclipses and a series of eclipse fun facts.

  • What to look for - Where can the eclipse been seen and what one will actually see during the various eclipse phases.

  • Planning for the eclipse - considerations for photographing the eclipse and some additional eclipse websites for further information.

About the branch

As the hub of the Indianapolis Public Library system, Central Library showcases renowned architecture and services. The original 1917 building, designed by Paul Cret and constructed of Indiana limestone in the Greek Doric style, was considered one of the most outstanding secular buildings in the U.S. Its six-story glass and steel-framed addition, designed by Evans Woollen, opened in 2007.
