We're always exploring ways to tell stories! Have you every heard of tabletop roleplay games? Join us for our bi-monthly school-age program at the College Avenue Branch Library! This week, we'll be going on an imagination adventure together, right here in the Library!
Join us for Saturday Smarties at College Avenue a time just for school-age kids (ages 6-12) to hang out, be social and creative, and try new things, every other Saturday. For our last meet-up in May (and our last meet before Summer Reading!), we'll be going on an adventure! Maybe you've heard of tabletop roleplay games (RPGs), like Dungeons and Dragons. This week, the Smarties will be playing a version of tabletop RPG designed just for kids! Each kid will choose (or create) a character, we'll set the scene, and then adventuring we will go! Your librarian will act as the narrator and game-master, guiding you through a fantastical world of imagination. She'll provide some choices along the way, but what happens in this world is up to YOU! This kind of gameplay is perfect for kids who love to tell stories, use their imagination, and play pretend!
Established as the Broadway Branch in 1924, the library served the neighborhood from a frame house on E. 42nd Street until 1958 when a 6,500-square-foot facility opened on Broadway Street. This aging and overcrowded building was replaced in August 2000 with the current 16,000-square-foot structure on College Avenue that was renamed the College Avenue Branch.
