Reading Ready Time - The Giant's Violin

Children 3-6 are invited to a virtual Library visit! Join us from home to sing along, listen to a story, see new places, and meet amazing people. This week, members of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra present an interactive story about a boy who believes a giant lives in his attic.

Reading Ready Time is a virtual library experience specifically designed to help children 3-6 years old get ready to read and connect with the Library.  We hope this program will help them make a connection, building on their path to becoming lifelong learners. In this week's episode, The Giant's Violin, members of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra use their instruments to tell the story of a boy who believes a giant and his violin are living in the attic above him.  This concert encourages children to listen to the individual instruments as they are played together.  Identifying differences in musical sounds is one of the Indiana Standards for Kindergarten (K.6.1).  You can encourage this development by playing with sounds while singing in the car, banging on different surfaces, or listening to a variety of musical instruments.  Other Reading Ready Time episodes can be found on our YouTube channel.
