Reading Ready Time - Books about Books!
Wednesday, February 25
All day
Jess Neeb-Smith, librarian extraordinaire and Herbert Simon Early Literacy Specialist, presents a fun-filled storytime with books about books! Enjoy stories, games, and songs geared to get your kids engaged in the five practices of early literacy: reading, writing, singing, talking, and playing.
Reading Ready Time is a virtual library experience specifically designed to help children 3-6 years old get ready to read and connect with the Library. We hope this program will help them make a connection, building on their path to becoming lifelong learners. In this week's episode, Ms. Jess shares books about her favorite thing - books! This storytime supports Indiana Learning Standard ELA 2.3: Demonstrates awareness and understanding of concepts of print. This and other Reading Ready Time episodes can be found on our YouTube channel.
Additional resources:
- It may seem silly but there is quite a large collection of books about books. Check out some of Ms. Jess’s favorites.
- You can find a zillion of ways to make books online. Jennifer Hier includes three simple ideas on her website.
- Even though preschoolers may not know the term “genre,” they can easily recognize that there are many kinds of books. Give them a shot at sorting your book collection. Preschoolers are creative thinkers; they will probably come up with ways of sorting grown-ups would never consider.

Online
This is not a real library branch - this is the "location" for our events that occur online. Online events that take place on Zoom should all involve registration and a link will be emailed to participants. Other online events may occur on YouTube or Facebook, and will not require registration.
