Join us for a movie at Central Library in the Clowes Auditorium Theater. Adults 17 & up are invited to view a selection of contemporary and classic cinema each month. Free admission and no registration required. Drop in--catch a film!
Two Films:
"Magnus" is a documentary about the child prodigy to chess champion, Magnus Carlsen.
"The Royal Game" a psychological drama based on the novella by Stefan Zweig. A notary public, accountant, and polymath for Royal court of Vienna is captured in the 1938 invasion of Austria. Before the Nazis secure him for confinement he grabs one book, a chess strategy book, memorizing it. Years later, he sails to America. He remembers the terrible confinement and every bit of the book he stole, giving him the ability to compete with the best prodigies of chess.

Central Library
As the hub of the Indianapolis Public Library system, Central Library showcases renowned architecture and services. The original 1917 building, designed by Paul Cret and constructed of Indiana limestone in the Greek Doric style, was considered one of the most outstanding secular buildings in the U.S. Its six-story glass and steel-framed addition, designed by Evans Woollen, opened in 2007.
