Urban Birding
Monday, September 14
7:00pm - 8:00pm
Join us for a short birding hike in downtown Indy, led by an experienced ornithologist and tour guide. We will walk in a group from Central Library to University Park and back, observing native birds by sight and sound!
Birding is the hobby of watching wild birds in their natural environment. We will be walking about 1 mile through downtown Indianapolis, so please wear walking shoes and dress accordingly for the weather! We will begin in the East Garden of Central Library. Adults of all experience levels are welcome, from first timers to bird enthusiasts. Bring your own binoculars, or some will be available to borrow.
Check out our book list of Midwest/Indiana birdwatching guides.
Central Library
As the hub of the Indianapolis Public Library system, Central Library showcases renowned architecture and services. The original 1917 building, designed by Paul Cret and constructed of Indiana limestone in the Greek Doric style, was considered one of the most outstanding secular buildings in the U.S. Its six-story glass and steel-framed addition, designed by Evans Woollen, opened in 2007.
