Join author Robin Ligon-Williams to discover and discuss her powerful book, "Rhythm, Ritual & Resistance: African Is Alive in the Black Indians of New Orleans." The book investigates Black (Mardi Gras) Indian culture and the enduring connections between indigenous Americans and enslaved Africans.
Book sales and signings will follow the presentation. Also, view an authentic outfit from the New Orleans Black Indians on display during May at Central Library. This program will be held in the Center for Black Literature & Culture at Central Library.

As the hub of the Indianapolis Public Library system, Central Library showcases renowned architecture and services. The original 1917 building, designed by Paul Cret and constructed of Indiana limestone in the Greek Doric style, was considered one of the most outstanding secular buildings in the U.S. Its six-story glass and steel-framed addition, designed by Evans Woollen, opened in 2007.
