Sunny Play
Meet & Play
Wednesday, September 09
11:00am - 11:45am
Stay after Sunshine Storytime for an open-ended sensory, loose parts, nature, and heuristic playtime!
During Sunny Play, your young child will have opportunities to explore natural materials, for sensory experiences, to play with loose parts, to create art, and to play make-believe.
Sunny Play is a busy program that is moderately noisy with focused, high activity in groups with plenty of calmer individual play spaces.
This program emphasizes the early literacy activities of PLAY, READ, TALK, SING, and WRITE, which are essential habits for getting ready to read as determined by the American Library Association's Every Child Ready to Read program.
Caregivers - You, too, will have your own table to enjoy a calming activity and an opportunity to mingle with other grownups.
Martindale-Brightwood Branch
The Brightwood Branch opened in 1901 as the sixth public library in Indianapolis. It served the Brightwood community at several locations along Station Street, one street west of its current North Sherman Avenue storefront site which opened in 1972. A 1996 renovation at this location doubled the size of the branch to 5,400 square feet. In 2020, a brand-new branch building, across the street from the previous branch, was completed and re-named as the Martindale-Brightwood Branch.
