Adults looking for cheaper alternatives to pricey cable and satellite television packages are invited to learn about the pros, cons, and costs of streaming platforms such as Amazon and Netflix, including The Library's free streaming services. This class will be hosted in the 1st Floor Computer Lab.

Participation in this class requires experience using the computer keyboard, mouse, and the internet.

Adults looking for alternatives to pricey cable and satellite television packages are invited to learn about the pros, cons, and costs of streaming platforms such as Amazon and Netflix. This class will also teach the basics of setting up cable internet at home, using streaming media players, using antennas, and viewing “live” or “on-demand” streaming services. Some of the concluding aspects of the class will also describe the library’s streaming services called Kanopy and Hoopla, which are free to library cardholders.

People who want to access the PowerPoint presentation before or after class can view these slides.

This class is limited to 12 Seats. First come, first served. Seating will begin 10 minute prior to class. This class will be hosted in the 1st Floor Computer Lab at Central Library.

About the branch

As the hub of the Indianapolis Public Library system, Central Library showcases renowned architecture and services. The original 1917 building, designed by Paul Cret and constructed of Indiana limestone in the Greek Doric style, was considered one of the most outstanding secular buildings in the U.S. Its six-story glass and steel-framed addition, designed by Evans Woollen, opened in 2007.
