Courtney M. Block is the Instruction, Reference, and User Engagement Librarian at Indiana University Southeast. She is also the author of Haunted Libraries Around the World (Bloomsbury, 2026), the Encyclopedia of Parapsychology (Rowman & Littlefield, 2022) and Researching the Paranormal: How to Find Reliable Information about Parapsychology, Ghosts, Astrology, Cryptozoology, Near-Death Experiences, and More (Rowman & Littlefield: 2020). Her work is also featured in volumes 3 and 5 of The Feminine Macabre, and you can find an article of hers in volume 35 of Haunted magazine. One of the things Courtney enjoys most is combining her librarian and paranormal interests and teaching people how to locate free, credible resources on a wide range of paranormal topics.

As the hub of the Indianapolis Public Library system, Central Library showcases renowned architecture and services. The original 1917 building, designed by Paul Cret and constructed of Indiana limestone in the Greek Doric style, was considered one of the most outstanding secular buildings in the U.S. Its six-story glass and steel-framed addition, designed by Evans Woollen, opened in 2007.
