Children 3-6 are invited to a virtual Library visit! Join us from home to sing along, listen to a story, see new places, and meet amazing people. This week's feature is The Library. Come along with Shael as she visits branches to learn at what the library is all about!

Reading Ready Time is a virtual library experience specifically designed to help children 3-6 years old get ready to read and connect with the Library.  In this week's episode, The Library, we visit several branches around the city and look inside, outside, and alllll around!  Not all children have access to visit their local library branch.  We hope this program will help them make a connection, building on their path to becoming lifelong learners. Other Reading Ready Time episodes can be found on our YouTube channel.

Additional resources:

  • Check out some books!  This list of books includes all things library.
  • There are lots of ways to engage little people in creating their own books.  This site offers tips as well as examples for bookmaking in the classroom.
  • How about creating a pretend library in a corner of the room?  Children can even hold their own storytimes!
  • A fun twist on the musical chairs game.  What a great way to get students to explore different titles!
  • Logo recognition is a beginning reading skill!  Print out the alphabet sound chart from Teachers Pay Teacher for free and encourage your children to find the logos as they travel around town.

About the branch
