Reading Ready Time - Pumpkins

Children 3-6 are invited to a virtual Library visit! Join us from home to sing along, listen to a story, see new places, and meet amazing people. Come along with us as we visit a pumpkin patch and explore all things fall harvest. Pumpkins, apples, and a hayride!

Reading Ready Time is a virtual library experience specifically designed to help children 3-6 years old get ready to read and connect with the Library.  We hope this program will help them make a connection, building on their path to becoming lifelong learners. In this week's episode, Pumpkins, we visit Waterman's Family Farm on the southeast side of Indianapolis. This aligns with Indiana early Learning Standards SC2.1: Recognize seasonal and weather related changes. Other Reading Ready Time episodes can be found on our YouTube channel.

• Check it out!  We have lots of books about fall and pumpkins at the Library.  This is a great time to explore nonfiction books.  Learn about the colors of fall or what squirrels do to prepare for winter. 
• Pocket of Preschool has a nice collection of pumpkin activities.  I particularly like using large tweezers to pick up pompoms and pumpkin seeds.  Great fine motor activity! 
• The Organized Mom Life has some great pumpkin activities as well.  She plans activities at home and created detailed supply lists.  Very handy!
