6th Annual Black Photography Exhibit
Wednesday, July 01
10:00am - 6:00pm
We Are Indy Arts is proud to present The Black Photography Exhibition honoring some of Indy's very own contemporary artists. The exhibit will be displayed from July 1 - August 1, 2026 at Central Library. Join us for the reception on July 7 in the Simon Reading Room from 5:30 - 7:45 p.m.
For decades, African American artists have been pioneers in the art form of photography as well as major contributors to shaping American history. Many artists go unnoticed and unacknowledged, including the lack of diversity within art institutions to showcase African American art.
Photographers and submission have been chosen for 2026, but if interested in participating in 2027, please email Lenny White.

Central Library
As the hub of the Indianapolis Public Library system, Central Library showcases renowned architecture and services. The original 1917 building, designed by Paul Cret and constructed of Indiana limestone in the Greek Doric style, was considered one of the most outstanding secular buildings in the U.S. Its six-story glass and steel-framed addition, designed by Evans Woollen, opened in 2007.
